INTRODUCTION

Kendo Manager is a web-based application which can be installed on any Windows web server or Windows PC, or hosted by service providers. It is suitable for all types of projects, regardless of team size or project complexity. Easy to use with simple instructions, it does not require expensive employee training. Kendo Manager will simplify your project life cycle. Kendo Manager 4.0 Setup – One-Click Self-Hosted Project Management Software in 5 Minutes

With Kendo Manager 4.0, you can set up a self-hosted project management server in approximately 5 minutes.

The installer automatically prepares the required components, configures the MariaDB database, installs the Kendo Manager application, creates the desktop shortcut, and opens the application in the browser.

Default login credentials:

Username: admin, Password: admino

After the first login, we strongly recommend changing the default administrator password.

Important: For MariaDB and application database passwords, please avoid special characters such as semicolons, quotation marks, apostrophes, ampersands, less-than signs, and greater-than signs. The @ character is supported.

STEP 1

Step 1. Install .NET Framework 4

Download and install .NET Framework 4 from the following link and install:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42642

Note : If you already have installed .NET Framework 4+ skip this step.

STEP 2

Step 2 . Install IIS on Windows 10/11 or Windows Server

IIS is not installed by default on Windows 8 or windows 10. As a result you have to manually set up IIS (Internet Information Services) on your machine

Installing IIS

IIS in Windows is still an optional “Windows Feature”. To install it, press the Windows + R key combination to bring up a run box, then type appwiz.cpl and press enter.

This will open the Program and Features part of Control Panel, on the left hand side click on the “Turn Windows features on or off” link.

Now, simply click on the features that are checked on the following screens and then hit the OK button.

After clicking OK, this dialog will appear on your screen for a while.

When it’s done, fire up your browser and navigate to localhost.

STEP 3

Step 3 . Install Maria DB on windows 10/11 or Win Server

The installation procedure for MariaDB is the same for Windows desktop and Windows server

Go to Kendo Manager folder and install MariaDB.
Double click installer to start install process.

Note: Also you can download MariaDB for windows from https://downloads.mariadb.org/

On properties you can set the password for the “root” database user and specify whether root can access database from remote machines.
Click Next

STEP 4

Step 4. Create Kendo Projectmanagement database using default HeidiSQL

HeidiSQL is a Windows client for MariaDB and MySQL. It has been bundled with the Windows version of MariaDB since MariaDB 5.2.7

Click on HeidiSQL
Type Root password and Click to Open

4.1. Create project management database

Go to File and click to Load SQL File options

Choose Projectmanagement Sql file from Kendo Manager – Database folder and click Open.

Click OK on Messages

Finish instalation project management database

Click to Execute SQL button

Click to OK button and refresh windows (F5).

STEP 6.1

6.1. IIS_IUSRS Folder Permission

Open C:\inetpub\wwwroot and Add IIS_IUSRS full permission on folders App_Data, Files and repository.

Click to right mouse button to App_data folder and choose Properties

Select tab Security and click Edit.

Add full control for IIS_IUSRS and click OK.

Click to right mouse button to Files folder and choose Properties and select tab Security. Add full control for IIS_IUSRS and click OK.

Click to right mouse button to Repository folder and choose Properties and select tab Security Add full control for IIS_IUSRS and click OK.

STEP 6.2

6.2. Web config settings

Go to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\kendo and open web config with text editor to set config file.

Note : We are recommended Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org )

6.2.1. Language settings

When you open web config you need to first set language settings. Default language in the Kendo Manager is English (“DefaultCulture” value=” en-US “). If you want the German language to be basic, type de-DE in a string (“DefaultCulture” value=” de-DE “).

Currently, Kendo manager supports :

English – (“DefaultCulture” value=”en-US”).
English Australian – (“DefaultCulture” value=”en-AU”).
German – (“DefaultCulture” value=”de-DE”).
Spanish – (“DefaultCulture” value=”es-ES”)
Slovenian – (“DefaultCulture” value=”sl-SI”)
Italian – (“DefaultCulture” value=”it-IT”)
Serbian Latin – (“DefaultCulture” value=”sr-Latn-RS”).
Croatian – (“DefaultCulture” value=”hr-HR”).
Bosnian – (“DefaultCulture” value=”bs-BA”).

Note : European English (DD.MM.YYYY) – date format, it is necessary to set “en-AU”

6.2.2. Database connection string

First you need to Enter the root password in the connections strings

Type the Root password in the 4th row connection string and click Save

Type the Root password in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows connection string and click Save

Note:

Kendo config file is predefined for the default base projectmanagement that we have previously created using HeidiSQL or phpMyAdmin. Only You need to enter the password of your root user . If you create a database with a different name and user, you need to enter your data into the database connection string. If your root user does not have a password, leave the field password empty.

STEP 6.3

6.3. Add Kendo Manager App in Internet information server (IIS)

The procedure to add a new website to IIS (Internet information server) is the same no matter which operating system you use (Windows 10/11 or Windows Server ).

Type IIS in Windows 10 search box and click on Internet Information Server

To begin, open the IIS Manager and Stop default IIS web site If you want to use it on port 80 it is necessary to stop the default IIS website.

Add the Kendo web application on IIS

Expand the tree on the connections column.
Right click
Select Add Web Site…

Configure the new Kendo Manager Website

Note:

This window is the initial new website configuration. From here we will make a basic working site.

In Site name, enter a Kendo to identify your website.
In Physical path enter the path to the website folder files. You can put this anywhere on your hard drive but the default is c:\inetpub\wwwroot\kendo
In the binding set, you can select how the site is bound to the Server.
Type: Select HTTP or HTTPS if you server have SSL Certificate.
IP Address: Select your IP here. When using Windows 7 you’re probably hosting at home, so this will probably be your local IP such as 192.168.14.123 otherwise it may be something else.
Port: This should not be changed unless required as port 80 or port is the only port you can use without adding :port at the end of your domain. You should only change this if your ISP blocks port 80.
Host name:This should be your domain name. If you don’t have one and want to use your IP, leave it blank.
